ABOUT

Alison has worked in the image industry most of her life; in advertising, modelling and TV Production. From the beginning, she knew that using her talents in that industry wasn’t enough. As creative as it allowed her to be, there was still something missing – the opportunity to change/affect everyday people in a positive and personal way. It became obvious she needed to share her special brand of styling from the inside out; to help everyone look good and feel better. To make every day beautiful!

In 2004,  Style Counsel was born, allowing Alison to share her passion for making people and their spaces look great. Her natural eye for style, colour, design, and ability to instinctively optimise and balance shapes and spaces always comes with her truly personal, signature style. Together with her husband during their 16 years as Oz Design franchisees, Alison’s styling skills have helped many clients turn their houses into beautiful homes.

Also in demand as a Speaker, Alison bravely shares her personal story in order to inspire, motivate and empower. She facilitates Corporate Image Workshops and delivers Keynote presentations on everything from Invisible Disability to Etiquette; Personal and Interior Styling, to makeup and presentation tips – and always with her signature sense of humour and grace.

THE BACKSTORY

“My journey as a Stylist began many years ago, working in advertising; styling advertising campaigns, selecting models, and choosing products and accessories to achieve ‘just the right look’.

Moving into sales and television production at WIN TV Canberra, I was then approached by The Elite Academy to join their books as a model – all 5’3″ of me! Because of my natural passion for grooming and the skills developed in my ‘day job’, I was also called upon to teach deportment skills and mentor upcoming models on the attributes sought by the television & advertising industries.

Fast-forward a number of years and a move to Brisbane with my young family, the time eventually came for me to return to the workforce.  TV again beckoned – starting out in the Channel Seven Newsroom as New Directors Assistant, I then moved into production on The Great South East, Creek to Coast, and Queensland Weekender. Once again, returning to an industry that revolves around image management.

Over time, health issues made it difficult to work regular office hours so I pivoted and began looking for a way to utilise my unique set of skills and follow my passion for making every day more beautiful. In 2004, the seed was sown when a friend asked me to run a deportment course for her daughter and friends. Numerous courses and private clients soon followed and Style Counsel became a reality!

Over the years, Style Counsel has always evolved and grown; shifting gears due to ongoing health limitations I soon became the “Queen of Online Shopping” long before it was the big deal it is today, with Public Speaking and Corporate Image/Etiquette Workshops playing a stronger role. Nowadays, styling interiors has become the key focus with many clients seeking my eye for style and loving my talent for injecting their signature style into their own personal space.

The rest, as they say, is history!”
