It‘s no secret – this Stylist loves a bargain. It’s also no secret that while I have many obvious abilities – some more obvious than others and modesty isn’t one of them – I also have a hidden disability. And that means I have real soft-spot for charities that support people with disabilities. So with that in mind, last night I ventured out in the rain to attend the grand-opening of Endeavour Foundation’s The Labels Shop in Balmoral. Come with me now to see why this best-kept secret is not going to be a secret for much longer. And why…
Given my recent success at Vinnies where I bagged this gorgeous pre-loved fully-lined Cue dress for $8 dollars, I was keen to see if I could repeat this feat at The Labels Shop. Well, I sure wasn’t disappointed and I’m very happy to say I will definitely be adding The Labels Shop to my must-visit shopping list!
It’s an Endeavour Foundation endeavour (haha…get it?) BUT there’s one big difference between this store and the traditional op-shop. Actually, a huge difference. It offers brand new (not preloved) designer labels. At ridiculously cheap prices.
Oh-So-Many Beautiful Shoes!
I often style an outfit from the shoes up, so this is just one more reason to love this store! SO many great shoes, and whilst you might not always find your style in your size, the odds are on your side that you will, so you’ve just got to give this place a go!
Supporting People Who Need Our Support
Apart from the amazing prices and beautiful labels, one of the biggest motivators for me to support this great store is that profits support people with a disability. Because of Endeavour Foundation, these people are given choices and helped to live an ordinary life; to do the kinds of things that you and I might take for granted.
Not just for the girls either!
I brought my hubby along to last night’s launch. And I have to say, he’s not a shopper AT all, but he was very, very impressed with the menswear. Especially the gorgeous tan brogues that were a third of the price of his new Florsheim numbers. You see, recently he needed new shoes for a Wedding. Had he been to The Labels Shop before last night he would definitely have saved himself a bucket-load! Oh well…we’ll know where to try first next time, won’t we? (Note to my son, Corey: “Check out these boots! They have your name all over them, don’t you think?”)
Also, a huge congrats to all of the models at the launch. All first-timers and each did such a good job!
And Not Just Fashion!
In the trendy suburb of Balmoral (I can’t wait to go back to discover more about this stylish strip!) The Labels Shop is at 204 Riding Road. It also sells a unique range of artworks, designer homewares, ceramics, jewellery, greeting cards and gifts created by talented artists with a disability, employed at Endeavour Foundation’s QArt Studio based in Kew, Melbourne.
But Wait! There’s More!
Here’s a few more pics from last night’s launch. So lovely to meet Prue and the rest of the great team behind this fabulous addition to Brisbane’s stylish shopping scene! I look forward to my next visit and bagging many great bargains. I hope you too will add this great little place to your shopping list…
Sounds great Al, but how do they get the designer (not preloved) items and be able to sell so cheaply, are they donated?
Their buyers actually search the globe for fashion, shoes and accessories which are then sold at the incredibly discounted prices. Being a not-for-profit, they get lots of great seasonal overstocks which are still well-ahead of our stores here. Labels such as Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Pull&Bear, Stradivarius, Oysho, Uterque and plenty more. Many of these may not be ‘common’ labels here, but trust me, there’s some real European beauties to be had! 🙂
